Captain Ian M. Sylvester is Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 645, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. He recruits, trains, motivates and counsels highly qualified young men and women as prospective Air Force Officers. He promotes Air Force career opportunities to university and high school students, faculty, parents and Administrators. He also instructs college courses on the history, doctrine and operation of the U.S. Air Force.
Capt Sylvester was commissioned through the University of Minnesota, Duluth, Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 2011. He spent his first two operational assignments as a nuclear missile operations officer. Prior to his current assignment, he served Chief of Operations, Standardization and Evaluation, 341st Operations Group, 341st Missile Wing, Malmstrom AFB, Mont. In this position, he was responsible for assessing mission-readiness of the wing’s 280 combat crew, instructor and senior staff officers.
