Operations Flight Commander

Major Arun L. Chittur

Major Arun L. Chittur is the Operations Flight Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) and Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies, Detachment 645, The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He supervises unit operations and leads, recruits, trains, and mentors highly qualified men and women as prospective Air Force officers. He promotes Air Force career opportunities to university and high school students, faculty, administrators, and families. He also instructs university courses on Air Force history, doctrine, and operations.

Major Chittur commissioned through AFROTC Detachment 645 in 2008 and is a nuclear and missile operations officer. He has served in various intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) crew, training, and evaluation positions, in addition to deploying as missile crew and mission lead in support of Operations GLOBAL CITADEL, OLYMPIC STEP, GIANT PACE, and U.S. Strategic Command’s Exercise GLOBAL THUNDER. Prior to his current assignment, he served as assistant operations officer for missions in the 315th Weapons Squadron at Nellis AFB, NV. In this position, he was responsible for the development and execution of 25 multi-day training missions undertaken as part of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School’s ICBM Weapons Instructor Course.
